Solution 11160: Troubleshooting a Connection Failure Error on TI-GRAPH LINK™ 2 Software for Macintosh®.
What does a "connection failure" error mean in TI-GRAPH LINK 2 software for Macintosh®?
A "connection failure" error is a general error signifying a lack of communication between the connected TI calculator and the TI-GRAPH LINK 2 Software. Try any of the following:
- Make sure the TI Connectivity Cable is connected securely. If not sure, unplug and reseat the cable connection.
- Make sure the Calculator is on and on the home screen.
- Make sure the cable is securely connected to the calculator's I/O Port. If not sure, unplug the cable, and turn off the calculator. Without pressing any key on the keypad, plug the cable back in. If the calculator turns on automatically, then the connection is seated correctly.
- Make sure the correct port is selected.
- If using the Gray Serial TI Connectivity cable, make sure AppleTalk® is set to Inactive; as it can interfere with that cable's operation.
Alternately, consider installing the TI Connect™ for MacOS software for Mac® OS 8/9 or TI Connect for Mac® OS X. TI Connect for Mac® OS 8/9 brings several internal enhancements, including support for the TI Voyage 200 and Mac® OS 9. TI Connect for Mac® OS X has the ability to auto-detect the calculator and the cable, both on the computer and on the local network.
