Solution 40452: Performing Vector Calculations in Polar Form on the TI-84 Plus CE.
How do I perform vector calculations in Polar form on the TI-84 Plus CE?
The example below will demonstrate how to perform vector calculations in Polar form.
Please Note: For this example, the mode settings will need to be changed.
• Press [MODE].
• Press [▲] [ENTER]
• Press [▼] [▼] [►] [►] [►].
• Press [ENTER]. This will set the settings to show solutions to the hundredth decimal point.
• Press [▼] [ENTER]. This will display the solution in Radian.
• Press [▼] [▼] [▼] [▼] [►] [►] to highlight the option for re^θi .
• Press [ENTER]. This will display the solution in Polar form.
• Press [CLEAR] to return to the home screen
Example: Add 12∠40° + 30∠67°
• Press [1] [2] [2ND] [ln]
• Press [4] [0] [2ND] [apps] [1]
• Press [2ND] [.] [►]
• Press [+]
• Press [3] [0]
• Press [2ND] [ln]
• Press [6] [7] [2ND] [apps] [1]
• Press [2ND]
[.] [►]
• Press [ENTER] to complete
the calculation
Please Note: The answer will display the "Imaginary" part in "Radian" because a Domain error will occur if you try this while in "Degree" mode. To convert this "Imaginary" part to a "Degree" angle some additional steps are required.
• Press [MODE]
• Press [▼] [▼] [►] [Enter] to change to degree mode
• Press [CLEAR] to return to the home screen
• Press [2nd] [apps] [6]
• Press [Math] [►] [►] [2]
• Press [2nd] [ (-) ] to paste "ANS" then [ ) ] [ , ]
• Press [Math] [►] [►] [3]
• Press [2nd] [ (-) ] to paste "ANS" then [ ) ] [Enter] to display the "Imaginary" part as a "Degree" angle
